Westcoast
Custom Yachts are designed and built with a long history of
Pacific Northwest cruising in mind. The more you know about
boats, the more you’ll appreciate the need to operate
a serious coastal cruiser, specifically designed to meet the
demanding requirements of the San Juan Islands, British Columbia
and Alaska. The Westcoast 46’s traditional design provides
increased comfort, safety and value. Take a close look at

Hull Design:
Westcoast’s 46’s hull design features a 14’3”
beam, rounded chines and flared deep forefoot that gradually
tapers to a 12 degree dead rise at the transom. This design
produces a hull that is comfortable and dry in head seas with
a great deal of stability in following seas. Her Cummins diesel
engines configured as either standard twin or optional single
allow her to achieve speeds in the 18 to 20 knot range and
for those who prefer a more leisurely and economical speed,
she loves to run all day long at speeds in the 10 to 12 knot
range.
Her long shallow keel, low profile, low
center of gravity and substantial displacement result in a
gentle easy motion, directional stability and excellent all-around
boat handling characteristics in virtually any sea condition.
We are aware that these are the design features insisted upon
by knowledgeable Pacific Northwest boaters.
Construction Characteristics:
Westcoast Custom Yachts are built with solid fiberglass below
the waterline and 3/8” divinicell sandwich coring above
the waterline. Four full length stringers and multiple thwartships
frames are laminated and bonded for incredible strength and
stiffness. An amazingly strong hull-to-deck joint combines
with a structural upper rub rail to give the Westcoast unparalleled
strength where it is needed. It’s nice to be able to
head out to sea knowing that your yacht is built the way a
serious cruising yacht should be.
Features:
All Westcoast Custom Yachts feature a wealth of well thought-out
features, which upon closer inspection become readily apparent.
Welded stainless steel oval handrails designed for strength
and ease of grasping in heavy weather conditions, teak decks
to reduce the risk of slipping, stainless steel portlights
to keep the water out, side decks for ease of movement around
the yacht, all are characteristics designed to provide owners
with maximum safety and comfort for many years to come. Frameless
windows, gel-coated fiberglass side doors and hatches guard
against corrosion and reduce the need for maintenance. Other
details may not be so readily apparent. For instance, the
cockpit, boat deck and bridge are all drained overboard keeping
them free of standing water, interior overhead escape hatches
in all staterooms provide an added level of safety. Detail
